Okay, here's a tip: DO NOT REGISTER DOMAINS WITH NAMES4EVER.COM, APLUS.NET OR ANY OTHER ABACUS AMERICA COMPANY! Sorry for the caps, but I feel pretty strongly about that. They have the worst policies for registration, like:
- You can't transfer a domain if it's a within a month of expiring. You have to renew the domain first, then transfer it.
- If your domain expired, there is a $35 late fee within the first 2 months of having expired, or $150 from that point until the point when it is released to the general public.
I've transfered my domains from other registrars several times, in an attempt to find the "perfect" registrar, and I have never had the issues I've had with names4ever. So now I am transfering all my domains from names4ever, even the ones that still have a long time until they expire. It's not worth the hassle of staying with them.
Here's another tip: MyDNS is a great registrar. Not only do they have a great control panel, they also offer DNS management for free (you don't even have to have your domains registered through them!). They may not be a perfect registrar (although I have never had any issues with them), but they offer a lot more than the others.
