being a geek isn't so bad
chicks still think i'm hot ;)

Wow, it's been a while!

So much has gone on since my last post, but I am not about to recap it all now.

Instead, I am going to post about 2 things:

  1. The Lakers - BOY OH BOY! The Lakers were doing GREAT at the beginning of the season, then Andrew Bynum went out with a knee injury. I was pretty sure that  was going to kill the momentum. But NOPE! Mitch Kupcheck pulled Pau FREAKING Gasol out of his ass and now the Lakers are one of the favorites in the West! It's good to be a Laker fan right now!

  2. I posted up a new article about my car, detailing my plan for it. After an almost 2 year hiatus on modding my car, I have decided to jump back in. I love my car, and the only cars I would replace mine with would cost me in the neighborhood of $40k to $50k, and none of them would be as convenient for my family as the WRX. So instead, I'm going to spend some cash on my car and plan to keep it for the long haul. Anyway, you can read about my plans here.

The Lakers man! WHOOO HOOOO!!!

Texas is Wet!

I have been meaning to blog about this for a while, but DAMN! Texas is wet! At least this year it is. We have lakes overflowing, towns flooding and a constant dampness & humidity that at times makes it hard to breath outside. It's crazy. I think the most dry days in a row we've been able to string together is 10.

I REALLY hope it stops raining soon. When it rains, the dogs won't go to the bathroom outside, and I am tired of cleaning up crap.

Texas is Cold!

It's been a while since I have posted here, and a lot has gone one. I've been doing most of my blogging (when I do blog) here : http://los2k1.spaces.live.com/ at my MSN space. I just like the way it integrates with my MSN messenger.

Anyway, it's like 30 degrees outside, and snowing. I haven't been in weather this cold since I was in Washington (14 years ago). Hopefully the drive home from work isn't crazy, but I bet it will be.

Texas is Hot!

So I've been in Texas for about 2 weeks now, and it's great, but really REALLY hot! It's not completely unbearable, but if there were no airconditioning, I doubt I would have lasted this long :)

Anyway, here are some links:

Almost Texas Time

So I leave for Texas on Tuesday. Gonna be strange to be out of California, but it will be a good thing. Hopefully the house sells soon so rach and the kids can join me soon!

Anyway, here are some links:

Game Crazy

Today's post is all gaming:

FINALLY!!! Team Fortress 2!

I have been waiting FOREVER for this game. I used to play the crap out of the original TF when it was on the Quake engine. Then when Quake II came out, the TF team asked id software if the would help out with TF2 for Quake II. That didn't go so well, so the new up and coming software company VALVe said they would help get things going on the Half-Life engine. We were supposed to get TF2 at the time that HL1 was released, but that didn't go so well. So instead of leaving us all empty handed, VALVe gave us Team Fortress Classic. I played the crap out of that too. VALVe told us all they were working on a new version of TF2 that was so new, so revolutionary that it knock our socks off. They talked about Commanders and missions and all kinds of new stuff. They showed us hyper-realistic screenshots of soldiers and vehicles. So we waited. And Waited. And Waited. And then all talk just stopped.

So here we are, several years later, and VALVe drops a bomb: TF2 is almost ready! YEAH!! And they are changing the art style! YEA... Wait...What?? Yup, it's changing. More like Cel-Shading, cartoony. A have to admit when I read that, I damn near lost all hope. I LOVED TF it was one of the main reason's I'm a gamer. I had a TF clan (Wetworks). One of my very first websites was FOR my TF clan! Cartoony? What the hell are they talking about.

Imagine my suprise when I saw this:

Team Fortress 2!

click for the big pic. Thanks to http://www.joystiq.com for the images.

I LOVE the new art style. To me it INSTANTLY screams Team Fortress. They kept all the old classes, and they are all close to perfect (The Engineer needs a cigar). From this pic it looks like they are sticking to the old-school gameplay. No more Hyper-Realistic battles, with Commander and missions (Fine with me, if I want that style of gameplay, I'll just start up Battlefield 2). I am so hyped to play this game now. I guess they are releasing some ingame footage or something next week. Hopefully they'll give us some info on gameplay and modes too.

Oh yeah, TF2 will be released as the multiplayer portion of Half-Life 2: Episode 2. That should be out some time in the next few months!

Back to Texas on the 10th

This time, it's permanent. Yes folks, I am leaving So Cal and moving my family out to Frisco Texas. I know most So Cal people will think I am crazy, but trust me, I'm not. Just look at the house prices (and sizes) and compare. I know about the weather, the tornados, the bugs, the thunderstorms. I know these things. I also know that there are things in So Cal that we have to deal with that aren't cool (traffic, overcrowding, housing is out of control). We'll get used to it, just like we got used to the So Cal stuff.

So in honor of our new adventure (and because it's the point of this blog) here are the links!

A while back I linked a Video Blog called RocketBoom, hosted by the funny Amanda Cogdon. Well it looks like Amanda has been fired. Pretty lame if you ask me. Hell, without Amanda, RocketBoom is dead to me. No offense to the new interim host, but you ain't no Amanda!

Anyway, visit Amanda's blog to keep up with what she is doing. When she finally lands somewhere, I'll link'er. Good Luck Amanda!

Amanda UnBoomed

New post, new links, and well...

First the links :

  • The Mythical Man-Month. Idea that adding more manpower to a late project doesn't help. I've been through this, and it DOESN'T help.
  • Cute Overload. It really is an overload.
  • Genpets. This one is just to offset all the cute.
  • Bloody Sunday. Who knew the commander-in-cheif could sing?
  • Need Money? Best way to get money, hands down!

Okay now. I want to congratulate the Heat on their finals....Victory. Dwyane Wade played his heart out, but the man flops on damn near every play. There were points in several of the games where he didn't even get touched, yet he dropped to the ground like someone took out his knees. And I pity the fool that gets within reach of DWade! If you are close enough to even see the man you could be called for a foul.

Props go out to the Dallas Mavericks, a team who showed that they have all the talent and the heart to be champions.
